Sun Meadow Appenzellers

Our puppies are, and will always be, a beloved extension of our family.  They are handled with care and socialized as much as humanly possible from birth until they leave to be with their new family.  ​All Sun Meadow Appenzeller litters are registered with the AMDCA (Appenzell Mountain Dog Club of America) and the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club). 

​All puppies:

• have their rear dew claws removed when they are between 3 to 5 days of age.

• undergo aptitude testing for dominance and submission at seven (7) weeks of age. This testing helps to predict future behavioral traits.  Knowing a puppy’s behavioral traits will help you to understand what behaviors need to be focussed on as your puppy is being trained and what type of activities your puppy will enjoy the most.

• are evaluated for form & structure between seven (7) and eight (8) weeks of age. What you see at this age, is what you get.  If the pup has strong and straight front and back legs, with all four feet pointing in the same direction, it will grow up that way, provided you give it the proper diet and environment in which to grow. 

• are dewormed,

• are microchipped for identification,

• have at minimum, their first set of DAPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus) vaccinations before they are released to their new home.

• go home with a puppy care package that includes paperwork and basic starter supplies to help get them settled into their new home.

• come with a 3-year health guarantee from the date of their birth against any immediate life-threatening hereditary and congenital defects. 

All of our new puppy owners will receive their first year of membership to the AMDCA, and their puppy will be individually registered with the AMDCA, compliments of Sun Meadow Appenzellers. 

• An AMDCA membership ensures that, in addition to the support you will receive from Sun Meadow Appenzellers, you will also have an additional network of support and resources available to you from other experienced Appenzeller owners anytime you need it.  

• Having your puppy individually registered with the AMCDA will provide you with registration and pedigree documents.  These documents will allow you to register your Appenzeller with the CKC and/or the AKC if you choose to do so.

All puppies are registered as 'von Sonnenwiese'; German translation for ‘from Sun Meadow’.  

The price for our puppies is $3,500 each. All of our pet and companion puppies are sold under a non-breeding agreement. We believe in responsible pet ownership and want to ensure that our puppies are placed in loving homes that prioritize their well-being. We appreciate your understanding of our commitment to ethical practices in pet adoption.

​We breed for the future, health, and wellness of the Appenzeller Sennenhund breed and do not intend to bring unwanted puppies into this world.

​We encourage Buyers to visit and pick up their puppies in person, but are happy to assist with delivery arrangements if/when needed. Shipping and delivery costs are not included in the price of the puppy.​​​
